Ahed Alkhatib
I am a Senior Architect and Design Manager with over 15 years of experience leading major building projects from early concepts to final construction packages. Growing up in an artistic family in Damascus, I have always combined creative design with strong technical skills. In my career, I specialize in managing architectural teams and coordinating complex engineering disciplines (including structural, MEP, interior design and facade systems) for large-scale projects. My portfolio includes leading roles on major healthcare facilities like The View Hospital in Doha and the Algerian Qatari German Hospital, as well as multiple luxury residential high-rises in Lusail City.
Since relocating to Qatar in 2010, I have built my career with leading engineering consultant firms in the region. I have spent the last 12 years at Lacasa Architects & Engineering Consultants, progressing into a senior leadership role where I manage design teams and drive key technical decisions for massive developments. Before joining Lacasa, I worked with Gharnata Consultants Engineers, where I handled unique cultural and hospitality projects like the Um Slal Mohamed Protected Area resort and the Wakra Old Souq.
Alongside my professional practice, I am an accomplished on-site sketch artist and photographer. I look for the balance between traditional heritage and modern development, documenting how cities grow and change. This passion led to my art book, Sketching Qatar Architecture (2021), which is sold at the gift shops of the National Museum of Qatar and the Museum of Islamic Art. I also enjoy sharing my skills by teaching live sketching workshops with local universities and cultural galleries.
I graduated from Damascus University in 2009, hold a Grade-A engineering license in Qatar, and have won international awards for both my photography and housing design concepts.
